Tom Leman

Meet Team Stumpman Member Tom Leman

Team Stumpman member Tom Leman discovered RC cars at around age 20, when a couple buddies got RC10's. After researching then-available cars, he chose a Team Losi car. He launched his racing career at Sacramento Mini-Wheels with a second place in Amateur Production. That was an amazing day, he was hooked and the fun began.

Tom began racing 3 days a week, honing his skills in the stock class, and began racing modified on a regular basis. When Sacramento Mini-Wheels closed, he raced at Hobby Warehouse where, in addition to continuing his racing 3 days a week, he participated in track maintenance and design.

Tom's racing history includes racing at big events such as the Reedy Race of Champions (3 times) and the Cactus Classic in Arizona, and racing with many big names and World Champions including Masami Hirosaka, Mark Pacidas, Matt Francis, Brian Kinwald, and Gil Losi, Jr.

"It's just an adrenaline rush when you're racing and everyone is cheering!"

Tom took a break from racing in May 1995 after winning the MotorMan Race, to devote time to his family and new son, who was expected to arrive that July.

Tom, an automotive bodyman and painter, rejoined RC racing in 2010, and is hooked again!

"I enjoy helping out new drivers with their problems and helping them tune for success. As a member of Team Stumpman, I look forward to helping the RC community grow."
